The Greek authorities Protocol No. 6494 – 16/12/2025
have now formally activated legal proceedings against Wyndham Athens following a documented incident involving lost luggage, false statements, and conduct that violates both civil and criminal provisions of Greek law.
On 9 September 2025, a guest entrusted a suitcase to the hotel and received official custody receipt No. 21750. When the guest requested its return, the hotel attempted to evade responsibility by issuing a false and demonstrably misleading claim that the receipt was “years old,” despite being issued only one month earlier.
This behavior is not a “misunderstanding.”
It is a direct breach of the hotel’s legal duty of custody, and the false statement is now under examination as a potential criminal act.
⚖️ Legal Violations Under Review
Under Articles 835–839 of the Greek Civil Code, hotels bear strict liability for all items entrusted to them.
Liability applies regardless of fault.
The hotel’s conduct may further constitute:
- Professional Misconduct
- Civil Liability for loss and damages
- Criminal Liability for fraudulent misrepresentation or false declaration
These are not minor infractions. They strike at the core of trust, legality, and professional integrity in the hospitality sector.
🚨 Escalation to Authorities
The case has been officially forwarded to:
- National tourism regulators
- Consumer protection authorities
- International hospitality oversight bodies
- Wyndham Hotels & Resorts corporate leadership
Kind attention: Mr. Geoff Ballotti, CEO of Wyndham Hotels & Resorts.
📢 Public Demand for Immediate Action
The guest has formally requested:
- Full compensation for the lost luggage and contents
- Disciplinary and administrative sanctions
- A complete investigation into the hotel’s conduct
This incident exposes a systemic failure of responsibility and transparency at Wyndham Athens.
The public has the right to know, and the industry has the obligation to respond.
Accountability is now a legal requirement — not a courtesy.ALL ABOVE AS PER OUR FILE
